    • Self-directed and committed to providing superior care and education to families and assisting the Certified Nurse Midwives in the provision of care

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    The PRN Birth Assistant provides care for the client and family during labor, birth, and postpartum period at BRBC The Birth Assistant may also participate in the provision of extended postpartum care, client education programs, community outreach, and center operations in collaboration with the Administrator and/or Director of Midwifery.

    SUMMARY

    As a PRN - RN Birth Assistant, you will be integral in providing exceptional care during the birthing process, reporting directly to the midwife on call. Your role involves utilizing core nursing skills such as patient assessment, intermittent auscultation for monitoring labor contractions, encouraging movement and hydrations, and offering one-on-one care to families seeking low intervention birth. Other skills such as IV insertion, and catheterization are sometimes used, but is not routine care for each client.

    PAY: $30.00 per hour

  • We are a small, freestanding birth center seeking a skilled and compassionate OB sonographer to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who values personalized, holistic maternity care and thrives in a calm, supportive environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in performing high-quality obstetric ultrasounds, excellent communication skills, and a warm bedside manner. As part of our collaborative care team, you will play a vital role in supporting expectant families through one of the most meaningful times in their lives. This position is part time, and hours/flexible schedule can be discussed in person.

    Qualifications:

    • Associate or Bachelor Degree in Sonography

    • Active status in ARDMA (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers) certification

    • RMDS-OB/GYN preferred

    • Proficient in 20 week anatomy scans, dating, growth and general gynecology sonography

    • Empathetic and compassionate

    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

    Essential Functions:

    The sonographer position is responsible for the acquisition and analysis of sonographic images in birth center clients. The sonographer will perform a range of OB/GYN scans (dating, anatomy, growth, BPP/AFI, gyne) and present their images, calculations, and measurements to the provider for diagnosis and treatment plan development. In addition to performing the expected skills of a sonographer, this position is required to provide the highest quality experience for the client and family throughout the entire encounter. The sonographer will work alongside Certified Nurse Midwives and Registered Nurses at the birth center clinic to provide a trauma-informed, compassionate, and holistic healthcare experience.

    • Adheres to the birth center model of care and philosophy of holistic care, trauma-informed care, and informed consent

    • Explains sonographic procedures to clients, answering questions, ensuring consent prior to initiating scan

    • Prioritizes the client experience with warmed gel, comfortable and considerate positioning, family inclusion and clear communication

    • Complete and thorough exam to detect any abnormal or high risk complications or pathology

    • Ensure clear images for diagnostic and documentation purposes

    • Present sonograms and preliminary findings to the CNM

    • Complete the appropriate documentation

    • Maintain and clean the sonographic equipment
