Courtney Hawk, RN - Birth Assistant

Courtney's passion for birth work began in 2013 when she supported her sister through labor and witnessed the birth of her niece. That moment inspired her to return to school to pursue a career in nursing. In 2018, Courtney completed her Associate’s Degree in Nursing at the College of DuPage.

In 2019, Courtney’s passion for birth work expanded after the birth of her son. Her hospital birth experience increased her dedication to advocacy and supporting families seeking alternative approaches to labor and delivery. Thus, Courtney diligently continues to study and learn to holistically care for families. Previously, she’s attended doula trainings, childbirth education classes, as well as a Spinning Babies™ course. Currently, she is obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Nursing through Purdue University, as Courtney believes staying current with evidence-based practices is essential to providing safe and effective care with meaningful outcomes. In the future, she hopes to become a Certified Nurse Midwife.

Courtney considers it a blessing and an honor to be part of the transformative experience of birth. She believes birth is the greatest mystical miracle of life, a moment that brings glory to God. She believes in providing a client-centered experience, where informed choice is upheld and a nurturing and peaceful environment is fostered. She hopes all clients feel confident, supported, and loved, while in her care at Burr Ridge Birth Center.

Courtney resides in Bolingbrook, IL, with her husband Justin, son Wesley, stepdaughter Riley, and stepson Sam. She is an active aunt to five nieces and four nephews, and a caregiver to her grandmother. Courtney’s life purpose is to serve and love others. She feels blessed to embody this purpose through her family life, work life, as well as with the work she does with the youth of her church. In her free time, Courtney loves gardening with her husband, creating homemade herbal tinctures and salves, traveling to her family’s favorite vacation spot Mazatlan, Mexico, and jamming out at concerts.
